The design team drew inspiration from 1990s German design, a period that has had the most profound influence on contemporary design. Building on the German design trends that began in the 1970s, they adopted slightly teardrop-shaped square frames and recreated the slightly narrow, elongated circular frame silhouettes of the 1990s. The overall design is minimalist, yet details such as the curvature on the inner side of the temples, accents at the hinges, and the bridge and temple tips add subtle variations to the form. The upper rim features a two-tone electroplated finish, with only the top section of the frame painted—a color scheme that resonates with contemporary aesthetics. The sunglasses utilize Japan’s original “four-curved lens” technology, in which metal particles are blended to create the desired color, then melted and molded into individual lenses.
